Underneath the surface

“I design to create presence – quiet, tactile, and honest.”
About
Driven by a deep curiosity for materials and a sensitivity to light and texture, Ida Tvede creates aesthetic objects that invite calm and connection. Her work blends intuitive craftsmanship with a minimalist language – warm, grounded, and human.
Ida holds a Bachelor’s degree in Design & Business with a specialization in Furniture Design. Since graduating, she has continued to explore the field through both independent work and collaborations – and along the way, she has found an equally strong passion for designing lighting. Today, her practice is rooted in both furniture and lighting, approaching each with the same care, curiosity, and quiet attention.
Approach
Each design begins not only with drawings, but through direct, hands-on exploration. Whether shaping solid oak or sculpting light with handmade paper, the material itself sets the tone. Ida’s process is slow and intentional – guided by what feels natural, rather than what looks perfect.
The result is work that carries a quiet strength – sculptural, but subtle. From furniture to lighting, every piece is made to be lived with. Designs that age well. That feel right. That don’t demand attention, but reward it.
