Kami Table lamp
Designed in 2022“Shape the light. Feel the texture. Interact with the design.”
About
KAMI is a tactile table lamp inspired by nature and made for interaction. Crafted from textured handmade paper and oak, the lamp invites the user to shape light by sliding the paper strips. Delivered unassembled, it encourages presence, curiosity, and a personal connection to both form and function.

The design in detail
KAMI is a table lamp that transforms interaction into design. Inspired by frozen lake surfaces and delicate natural structures, the handmade paper has a unique, organic texture — created using fibers like grass and leaves. Each paper strip unfolds across a wooden base, creating an ever-changing light sculpture.
The lamp consists of paper in two tones, each diffusing light with a distinct warmth, allowing the user to control the atmosphere. The physical interaction — sliding the strips side to side — creates a tactile experience where light is shaped by hand.
KAMI is flat-packed and meant to be assembled by the user, making the act of building it part of the design experience. With a linen cord and brass details, the material choices underline its connection to craft and nature.
KAMI is not in production — it remains a functional prototype and a concept piece that explores light as something dynamic and personal. It invites the user to slow down, engage, and take part in creating the light they want to live with.
